A Refreshing Bowl of Pork Noodles
The location is off the beaten track, just south of all the action on Pham Ngu Lao. You’ll have to walk down a “work in progress” road to find this pleasant, square space called Summer in Saigon (look for the sign out front). You could easily miss this place as it’s buried among houses, hotels, and random stores. Their specialty is the Bun Suon Moc and it’s worth a try. It’s noodles, vegetables, pork, and meatballs in a subtle, but flavorful broth. On first taste, it doesn’t excites the taste buds. But after the entire bowl is emptied, you’ll find that the taste, although understated, will have grown on you. On the opposite end of the taste spectrum was the Chua Ran. It’s immediately tasty and delicious and was gone very quickly. It’s fermented pork sausage that’s fried to absolute perfection and served with an excellent orange mayo sauce. If you’re looking for a new place to grab a quick (and very affordable) bowl of noodles this is it. The noodles are good. The prices are good and the place is quiet. ...View more
